Why book with us
Skoda Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
We work on Skodas of all ages at our workshop on Pelsall High Street. The Octavia and Fabia are the most common, followed by the Superb, Yeti, Karoq and Kodiaq, plus the little Citigo. We handle servicing, warning lights, brakes, clutches, DSG gearboxes, suspension and electrics on petrol and diesel models. Mark has more than 30 years in the motor trade and knows these cars inside out.
Skodas share their engines and gearboxes with Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT, so the known issues are well understood. Early 1.2 TSI petrol engines can stretch their timing chains, many TSI engines have plastic water pump housings that leak, and TDI diesels can suffer EGR and particulate filter problems on short trips. The 7-speed DSG automatic fitted to smaller models can judder as it wears. We know where to look.
We find the cause before we quote. That means reading the fault codes, testing the parts involved and road testing the car, so you do not pay for a part that was never the problem. Skodas on a variable service schedule also need the right oil to the correct VW approval, which we always use and note on your invoice.
We are a family-run garage. A garage has stood on our site since 1936, and Mark and Suzi took it over in 2023 and renovated the workshop. Drivers from Pelsall, Walsall, Walsall Wood and Aldridge use us because they get straight answers, a clear price and no work started without their say-so. We stamp or record your service history too, which helps when you sell.
Whether your Skoda is due a service, has a warning light on or needs its MOT, we can sort it in one visit. We test cars and light vans up to 3,000kg. Call us on 01922 682200 or pop in to 45 High Street, Pelsall, to book. Have your registration handy and we will tell you whether a service, DSG oil change or timing belt is due.

Common questions
- Do you work on Skodas?
- Yes. We work on most Skoda cars, including the Fabia, Octavia, Superb, Yeti, Karoq, Kodiaq and Citigo. Petrol, diesel, manual and DSG automatic are all fine. If you are not sure about yours, call us on 01922 682200 and we will tell you straight away.
- Does my Skoda need a fixed or variable service?
- Skodas can be set to a fixed annual service or a longer variable schedule that the car calculates itself. The variable schedule suits cars doing long motorway miles. If you mainly do short local trips around Walsall, a fixed annual service is usually the better choice. We can explain the difference and set it up for you.
- Will servicing my Skoda with you affect the warranty?
- No. UK block exemption rules mean an independent garage can service your car during the warranty period, provided the work follows Skoda's schedule and uses parts and oil to the right specification. We use oil to the correct VW approval and record every service, so your warranty and history stay intact.
- My Skoda DSG gearbox judders. Can you fix it?
- Often, yes. Judder on the 7-speed DSG is usually down to clutch wear or the mechatronic unit, while the 6-speed DSG needs regular gearbox oil changes to stay smooth. We read the gearbox fault codes, road test the car and give you a clear quote before any work is done.
- How often does the DSG gearbox oil need changing?
- The 6-speed wet-clutch DSG normally needs its oil and filter changed at a set mileage interval, while the 7-speed dry-clutch version has a sealed unit with different needs. We check which gearbox your Skoda has and tell you whether a gearbox service is due.
- Why is my Skoda losing coolant?
- On many TSI petrol engines the plastic water pump or thermostat housing can crack or leak, letting coolant escape slowly. You might notice a sweet smell, the level dropping or a warning light. Do not just keep topping it up, as overheating can damage the engine. We pressure test the system and find the leak.
- Can you MOT my Skoda?
- Yes. We are a Class 4 MOT station, testing cars and light vans up to 3,000kg. You can book the MOT on its own or alongside a service. If anything fails, we explain it and quote you, and nothing is repaired without your say-so.
- Do you offer discounts?
- Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and armed forces. Mention it when you book and bring your ID when you drop the car off. The discount applies to servicing, repairs and MOTs on your Skoda, and it is shown clearly on your quote, so you know the price before any work starts.
- What are your opening hours?
- We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00, and closed on Sundays. Find us at 45 High Street, Pelsall, or call 01922 682200. If you work during the week, Saturday mornings are a handy time to drop your Skoda in for a check, a service or an MOT.
