How Often Should I Service My Car?

Start with your handbook
Most manufacturers suggest a service every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Check your handbook or service book for the exact figure for your car.
If you do a lot of miles, or mostly short trips around Walsall, your car may need servicing sooner than the handbook says.
Interim, full or major?
An interim service is a lighter check, usually halfway between full services. It covers the oil, the oil filter and the main safety checks.
A full service adds more checks across the whole car. A major service also replaces the parts the manufacturer asks for at that mileage, such as the air filter, fuel filter or spark plugs, depending on the car.
Time or mileage?
If you drive a little, service by the calendar, at least once a year. If you drive a lot, service by mileage. Whichever comes first is the one to follow.
