Why book with us
Motorcycle Servicing Pelsall with clear advice.
We service motorbikes alongside the cars and vans in our Pelsall workshop, and we have a motorbike lift so your bike is held safely at a good working height. Riders come to us from Walsall, Brownhills, Bloxwich and Aldridge with everything from commuter 125s to big tourers and sports bikes. Whether your bike is due a quick oil change or its big mileage service, we follow the schedule in your handbook rather than a one-size list.
A minor service covers the basics that keep a bike healthy: fresh oil and a new filter, a check of the chain and sprockets, brakes, tyres, lights, cables and controls, and a look for leaks. A major service adds the bigger items the maker lists at set mileages, such as spark plugs, air filter, brake fluid, coolant and, where due, a valve clearance check. We tell you which one your bike needs before we start.
Valve clearances are the job many riders put off, because on most modern bikes the tank, airbox and often the radiator have to come off to reach them. Clearances that close up over time can lead to poor starting, rough running and, left too long, burnt valves. We measure them, write the readings down for you, and only adjust or change shims when they are out of the maker's limits.
We also get bikes ready for the winter and back on the road in spring. For a lay-up we can change the oil so old, acidic oil is not sitting in the engine, treat or drain the fuel, and advise on keeping the battery charged. In spring we recommission the bike: battery, tyres, brakes, chain and fluids all checked so your first ride of the year is a safe one.
A garage has stood on our High Street site since 1936. Mark has been in the motor trade for over 30 years, and Suzi will explain what your bike needs in plain words. You get a clear quote first, and we start nothing without your say-so. Call us on 01922 682200 to book your bike in.

Common questions
- How often should my motorbike be serviced?
- Most bikes need a service every year or at a set mileage, whichever comes first. The mileage varies a lot between bikes, from every few thousand miles on some smaller and older machines to much longer gaps on many modern bikes. Your handbook has the schedule. If you have lost it, call us with the make, model and year and we will check what is due.
- What is the difference between a minor and a major service?
- A minor service is mainly oil, filter and a safety check of the brakes, tyres, chain, lights and controls. A major service adds the items the maker lists at bigger mileages, such as spark plugs, air filter, brake fluid, coolant and, when due, a valve clearance check. We tell you which your bike needs before we start, so there are no surprises.
- Do I need to have my valve clearances checked?
- Yes, at the interval your maker sets. Valves tend to close up as they wear, which can cause hard starting, rough running and, left long enough, burnt valves and an expensive repair. The check takes time because the tank and airbox usually have to come off, but it is cheaper than a top-end rebuild. We measure every valve and only adjust the ones out of limits.
- Will an independent service affect my bike's warranty?
- No, as long as the service follows the maker's schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. Under UK block exemption rules you do not have to use a main dealer to keep the warranty valid. We stamp your book and give you an itemised invoice, which is the record you need if you ever make a claim.
- Do you do motorbike MOTs?
- Yes. We carry out Class 2 MOTs on motorbikes over 200cc. Call us on 01922 682200 to book a bike MOT, as these are not bookable online. Having the service done first means the bike goes into its test ready and is far less likely to fail.
- Can you get my bike ready for winter storage?
- Yes. Old oil holds acids that are better drained before the bike sits for months, so a fresh oil change before storage is worth doing. We can treat or drain the fuel, check the coolant strength, and advise on keeping the battery on a suitable charger. Keeping the bike dry, clean and with the tyres off the ground or turned now and then also helps.
- What does a spring recommission involve?
- We check the battery and charging, tyre pressures, age and condition, brakes and brake fluid, chain and sprockets, cables, lights and fluid levels. Bikes that have stood often have sticky brake calipers, flat batteries or stale fuel, so we look for those. If your bike was laid up without a service, spring is a good time to do it before the riding season.
- Do you stamp the service book?
- Yes. Every service is stamped and dated in your book, or recorded with the mileage if your bike uses a digital record, and you get an itemised invoice listing the parts and oil used. A full service history is one of the first things buyers ask about, and it helps your bike hold its value.
- How do I book my motorbike in for a service?
- Call us on 01922 682200 with the make, model, year and mileage, and tell us about anything you have noticed, such as a noise or a warning light. We will tell you what service is due and book a time. Our workshop on Pelsall High Street is open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 1:00.
