Pelsall Village Garage

Car Repairs

We find the fault, explain it in plain English and give you a written quote. Parts are only ordered and fitted once you have said go ahead. You get a clear price before any work starts.

Why book with us

Car Repairs with clear advice.

We carry out general mechanical repairs on cars and vans of all makes at our workshop on High Street, Pelsall. That includes brakes, suspension, steering, exhausts, cooling systems, batteries, starters and alternators, clutches, wheel bearings and much more. Whether it is a knock over speed bumps, a squeal when you brake or a car that will not start on a cold morning, we will find out what is wrong and put it right.

Good repairs start with finding the real cause. A clunk from the front of a car could be a drop link, a top mount, a ball joint or a worn bush, and guessing means you pay for parts you did not need. We test drive the car where it is safe to do so, put it on the ramp and inspect it properly before we give you a price.

Once we know what is wrong, we explain it clearly and give you a written quote. If something is urgent for safety, we say so. If it can wait a few months, we tell you that too. We source parts matched to your registration, either original equipment or good-quality equivalents, and we explain our choice. Nothing is fitted until you have given us your say-so.

A garage has stood on this site since 1936, and we took it on in 2023 as the third family to run it. Mark has worked in the motor trade for more than 30 years, and Suzi keeps customers updated while their car is with us. Drivers from Pelsall, Walsall, Bloxwich and Walsall Wood come back because they get honest advice and clear quotes.

We repair cars, vans and motorbikes, and we offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS and armed forces. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00. If your car is making a new noise, has a warning light on, or failed its MOT, call us on 01922 682200 and tell us what is happening.

Common questions

Do you quote before doing repairs?
Yes, always. We find the fault first, then give you a written quote that sets out the parts and labour. You decide whether to go ahead. If we find something else once the job is under way, we stop and call you before doing anything more.
What parts do you use?
We fit original equipment or good-quality equivalent parts matched to your registration. We do not fit the cheapest parts we can find, because they often wear out sooner. If there is a meaningful choice between parts, we explain the difference and let you decide.
My car has a knocking noise. What could it be?
Knocks from the front are often worn suspension parts such as drop links, ball joints, bushes or top mounts. A clicking on full lock when turning is often a worn CV joint. A rumble that changes with speed may be a wheel bearing. We test drive and inspect the car so we can tell you which it is before quoting.
Can you repair my car after an MOT fail?
Yes. Bring your fail sheet or tell us your registration, and we will look at the items listed, quote to put them right and arrange the retest. If the car is left with us and retested within 10 working days, it only needs a partial retest.
Do you repair vans and motorbikes?
Yes. We repair cars, light vans and motorbikes. We have a motorbike lift in the workshop and we carry out Class 4 MOTs on cars and vans up to 3,000kg. We also carry out Class 2 MOTs on motorbikes over 200cc, and service and repair them.
Is it worth repairing my older car?
Often it is, but not always. We look at what the repair will cost against what the car is worth and how well it has been looked after, then give you an honest opinion. If a repair does not make sense, we will tell you rather than take your money.
How quickly can you fix my car?
It depends on the job and whether parts are in stock locally. Many common repairs are done within the day once parts arrive. We give you a realistic idea of timing when we quote and keep you updated if anything changes.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and members of the armed forces. Mention it when you book and bring ID when you drop off. The discount applies to servicing, MOTs and repairs on cars, vans and motorbikes, and we will confirm it on your quote before any work starts.
Can I get repairs done near me in Walsall?
Yes. We are at 45 High Street, Pelsall, Walsall WS3 4LT, close to Walsall, Brownhills, Bloxwich, Rushall and Aldridge. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00.
