Pelsall Village Garage

Full Service

Our full service is the yearly or 12,000-mile service most cars need. We change the oil and filters, go over the car properly from top to bottom, and give you a clear report of what we find.

Why book with us

Full Service with clear advice.

A full service is the main yearly service for most cars and vans. It is usually due every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. We change the engine oil, oil filter and air filter, then carry out a detailed inspection of the brakes, steering, suspension, tyres, cooling system, exhaust and the underside of the vehicle. It covers far more than the quick checks in an interim service.

We follow your manufacturer's service schedule, so we know what is due at your mileage and age, including items such as spark plugs, the cabin filter, brake fluid or the timing belt. If one of those is due, we tell you and give you a price before we fit it. Under UK block exemption rules, an independent service with parts and oils to the right specification keeps your manufacturer warranty valid.

A full service is when we often find problems before they become expensive. Brake discs with a lip, a leaking shock absorber, a perished coolant hose, a split drive shaft gaiter or a worn auxiliary belt are all things we see regularly on cars from Pelsall and Walsall. Catching them at service time usually means a smaller bill and fewer surprises at your MOT.

We service petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, as well as light vans. We use oil with the correct manufacturer approval and quality filters matched to your registration. At the end, we stamp your service book or update the digital record, reset the service light, and go through our findings with you. Anything that needs work comes with a written quote, and nothing is done without your say-so.

Mark has worked in the motor trade since leaving school, more than 30 years, and Suzi has worked as a service adviser, so you will always get a straight answer. We are at 45 High Street, Pelsall, open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday mornings. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS and armed forces. Common questions

How often should I have a full service?
Most manufacturers recommend a full service every 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first. Some cars have variable intervals shown on the dashboard. If you are not sure, give us your registration and we will check your manufacturer's schedule and tell you what is due.
Is a full service the same as a dealer service?
We follow the same manufacturer schedule and check the same key items as a main dealer would. The difference is usually in the price and in who you talk to. With us, you deal directly with Mark and Suzi, and we explain what we did and what we found in plain English.
Will it affect my new car warranty?
No. UK block exemption rules mean you can use an independent garage for servicing without affecting your manufacturer warranty, as long as the service follows the manufacturer's schedule and uses parts and oils of the right specification. We record the parts and oil on your invoice so you have proof.
Does a full service include an MOT?
No, they are separate. A service keeps the car healthy, while the MOT is a legal check of safety and emissions on the day. We can do both on the same visit, so you only drop the car off once, and if the service finds something that would fail the MOT we will tell you first.
Do you service hybrid cars and vans?
Yes. We service petrol, diesel and hybrid cars, and light commercial vans. A hybrid still has an engine that needs oil, filters and checks, and its brakes and suspension wear like any other car. Working vans benefit from regular full services because they cover high miles and carry heavy loads.
What if you find something wrong?
We stop and tell you. We explain what we have found, how urgent it is, and give you a written quote. You decide whether we do it now, later, or not at all. We never add work to the bill without your say-so.
How long does a full service take?
It depends on the car and what we find, but most full services are done within the day. Many customers drop the car off in the morning and collect it later. Call us on 01922 682200 and we will agree a time that suits you.
Will you stamp my service book?
Yes. We stamp your service book or update the car's digital service record where we can, and you get an itemised invoice. A full, up-to-date service history helps the car keep its value when you come to sell it. Ask us if you have lost the book.
Where can I get a full service near me?
We are at 45 High Street, Pelsall, Walsall WS3 4LT, close to Walsall, Brownhills, Bloxwich, Aldridge and Walsall Wood. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00. Call us on 01922 682200 to book.
