MINI Servicing & Repairs Pelsall

MINI servicing and repairs from a family-run garage in Pelsall, with honest advice and a clear price before we start.

Why book with us

MINI Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.

We work on MINIs of every generation at our workshop on Pelsall High Street, from early R50 and R53 hatches to the latest F56 Cooper and F60 Countryman. MINIs are great fun to drive but they do have their own habits. Many of the problems we see come from oil changes being stretched too far, and from a few well-known weak spots that are much cheaper to deal with early than late.

The most common MINI jobs that come to us are timing chain rattles on the 1.4 and 1.6 petrol engines fitted from around 2006, coolant leaks from the thermostat housing and water pump, oil leaks from the oil filter housing and rocker cover, and carbon build-up on the Cooper S. We also see power steering pump faults on the first-generation cars, clutch wear, and plenty of warning lights that need reading properly.

We start every job by finding the real cause. If your MINI has a rattle on start-up, we listen, check the oil level and condition and look at the chain before telling you what it needs. If a light is on, we read the fault codes and test the part rather than just swapping it. Then we call you with a plain-English explanation and a clear price, and nothing goes ahead without your say-so.

A garage has stood on this site since 1936. Mark has been in the motor trade since leaving school, over 30 years, and Suzi has worked as a service adviser, so you get honest advice from people who know the trade. MINI owners come to us from Pelsall, Walsall, Rushall and Aldridge because we are family-run, approachable and do not push work that is not needed.

We MOT cars on site too, so your MINI can have its service and Class 4 MOT in one visit. We also offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS and armed forces. To book your MINI in, or to talk through a noise or warning light, call us on 01922 682200 or drop in to 45 High Street, Pelsall, WS3 4LT.

Common questions

Do you service MINIs?
Yes. We service and repair MINI cars of all ages, from the early One and Cooper through to the current hatch, Clubman and Countryman. We use oil and filters to the right specification and reset the service indicator when we are done. Call us with your registration and we will tell you what service is due.
Will a service with you affect my MINI warranty?
No. UK block exemption rules mean you can use an independent garage for servicing without losing your manufacturer warranty, provided the work follows the schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We record the service so your history stays complete, which also helps when you come to sell.
My MINI rattles when I start it. What is it?
On 1.4 and 1.6 petrol MINIs from around 2006 to 2014, a rattle for a few seconds after a cold start is often the timing chain or its tensioner. It is worth checking soon, because a chain that jumps can cause serious engine damage. We check the oil, listen to the engine and inspect the chain, then explain what it needs.
Why does my MINI use so much oil?
Some petrol MINIs from the R56 era are known for using oil between services. Low oil also speeds up timing chain wear, so it is worth checking the level every few weeks. We can check for leaks and look at how the engine is running, then advise you honestly on what can be done.
How often should my MINI be serviced?
Most MINIs have a service indicator that tells you when it is due, based on mileage and time. Many owners who do mainly short trips around Walsall find a yearly oil change keeps the engine, and the timing chain, in better health than stretching it longer. We can talk through what suits the way you drive.
Can you fix MINI coolant leaks?
Yes. Coolant leaks on MINIs often come from the thermostat housing, water pump or plastic coolant pipes. We pressure test the system to find exactly where it is leaking, then quote you for the right part. Please do not keep topping up and driving, as running low on coolant can lead to overheating.
Do you work on the MINI Countryman?
Yes. We service and repair the Countryman and Paceman, including Cooper S and diesel models. They share many parts with the hatch, so the same checks apply. If your Countryman has a warning light on or a new noise, we can read the codes and take a look.
Do you do MOTs for MINIs?
Yes. We carry out Class 4 MOTs on site for cars and light vans, which includes all MINI models. You can book your MOT and service on the same day to save a second trip. If your car fails on something small, such as a bulb or a wiper blade, we can usually sort it there and then. For anything bigger we explain the fail, give you a clear price and only go ahead once you say yes.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and the armed forces. Let us know when you book your MINI in. The discount applies to servicing, MOTs and repairs carried out at our workshop in Pelsall. If you are not sure whether you qualify, give us a ring on 01922 682200 and Suzi will happily explain how it works.
