Volvo Servicing & Repairs Pelsall

Volvo servicing and repairs from a family-run garage in Pelsall, with honest advice and a clear price before any work starts.

Why book with us

Volvo Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.

We service and repair Volvo cars at our workshop on Pelsall High Street, from the V40 hatchback to big XC90 family cars. Volvos are solid, comfortable and built to cover big miles, which is why so many are still on the road at 150,000 miles and beyond. Keeping them that way is about regular servicing, timing belts done on time and catching the known weak spots before they turn into bigger bills.

On the older five-cylinder D5 and D3 diesels we often see split boost hoses and intercooler pipes that send the car into limp mode, EGR problems, and timing belts that are due on age. On four-wheel-drive XC60, XC70 and XC90 models the drive system needs fluid servicing, and the angle gear on older cars can wear. We also see jerky automatic gearboxes, particulate filter faults on newer diesels, and suspension wear on heavier SUVs.

We find the real cause before we quote. If your Volvo has gone into limp mode, we read the codes, check for boost leaks and test the parts rather than throwing parts at it. If it is a noise, we road test it and check it on the ramp. Then we ring you, explain it in plain English and give you a price. Nothing is touched without your say-so.

A garage has stood on this site since 1936. Mark has worked in the motor trade since leaving school, over 30 years, and Suzi has worked as a service adviser, so you get honest, practical advice. Volvo owners come to us from Pelsall, Walsall, Walsall Wood and Aldridge because we are family-run and easy to talk to, and we do not recommend work that is not needed.

We carry out Class 4 MOTs on site, so your Volvo can have its MOT and service in one visit. Police, fire service, NHS and armed forces get a discount. To book your Volvo in, or to talk through a warning light or noise, call us on 01922 682200 or pop in to 45 High Street, Pelsall, WS3 4LT. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5 and Saturday 8:30 to 1, and closed on Sundays.

Common questions

Do you service Volvo cars?
Yes. We service and repair most Volvo models, including the V40, V60, V70, S60, XC40, XC60, XC70 and XC90, in petrol, diesel and hybrid form. We follow your car's schedule and use oil to the right specification. Call us with your registration and we will tell you what is due.
Will an independent service affect my Volvo warranty?
No. Under UK block exemption rules, an independent garage can service your car without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and the parts and oils meet the right specification. We record the service so your history stays complete, which helps resale too.
Why has my Volvo gone into limp mode?
On Volvo diesels a common cause is a split boost hose or intercooler pipe, which lets air escape so the turbo cannot build pressure. Sensors, the EGR valve and the turbo itself can also be to blame. We read the fault codes and pressure test the system to find the actual cause before we quote.
When does my Volvo timing belt need changing?
It depends on the engine and year. Many older Volvo diesels use a timing belt that needs changing at a set mileage or age, whichever comes first. If you do not know when yours was last done, it is worth checking. We can look at the history and tell you if it is due.
Do you service the four-wheel drive on Volvos?
Yes. All-wheel-drive Volvos have a coupling at the back and, on many models, an angle gear at the front. Both need their fluid changing, and it is often overlooked. We can check yours and service it as part of a major service or on its own.
My Volvo automatic changes gear roughly. Can you help?
Yes. Harsh or slow gear changes can come from old fluid, a software issue or wear inside the gearbox. We read the codes, check the fluid and road test the car, then tell you honestly what we think and what it will cost before doing anything.
How often should I service my Volvo?
Most Volvos are on a yearly or 12,500 to 18,000 mile schedule depending on the model and year. If you mainly do short trips around Walsall, a yearly oil change is a good idea. Tell us your mileage and we can suggest what suits your car.
Can you MOT my Volvo?
Yes. We carry out Class 4 MOTs on site for cars and light vans up to 3,000kg, which covers Volvo cars including the XC90. Book it with a service to save a second trip. If your car fails on something small, such as a bulb or a wiper blade, we can usually sort it there and then. For anything bigger we explain the fail, give you a clear price and only go ahead once you say yes.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and the armed forces. Mention it when you book your Volvo in. The discount applies to servicing, MOTs and repairs carried out at our workshop in Pelsall. If you are not sure whether you qualify, give us a ring on 01922 682200 and Suzi will happily explain how it works.
