Why book with us
Toyota Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
We work on Toyotas of all ages: the Aygo, Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Prius, C-HR, RAV4 and Hilux. Petrol, diesel and self-charging hybrid, we service and repair them for drivers in Pelsall, Walsall, Aldridge and Walsall Wood. Toyotas are tough cars, and with regular servicing many keep going well past 150,000 miles. Hybrids now make up a big share of the Toyotas we see, and we are happy working on them.
Hybrids need some particular care. The hybrid battery has a cooling fan with an intake that can clog with dust, which causes warnings and reduced electric driving. The small 12V battery can fail and stop the car switching on, even when the hybrid battery is fine. On older 2.2 D-4D diesels, head gasket trouble is a known problem, and brake calipers can stick on cars that do low miles.
We find the real cause before suggesting a repair. We read the fault codes, look at live data, including hybrid system readings, and test the parts in question. Then we call you, explain it in plain English and give you a clear price. Nothing gets done without your say-so, and we will tell you if something can wait. We would rather fix the right thing once than guess and have you back again next week.
A garage has stood on our High Street site since 1936, and we are the third family to run it. Mark and Suzi took it on in 2023 and renovated it. Mark has been in the motor trade since leaving school, more than 30 years, and Suzi has worked as a service adviser and in customer support. We are rated 4.8 from 55 Google reviews.
If your Toyota is due a service, has a hybrid warning on, or just does not feel right, call us on 01922 682200. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00. Common questions
- Can you service a Toyota hybrid?
- Yes. We service Toyota hybrids including the Yaris, Auris, Corolla, Prius and C-HR. A hybrid service covers the usual engine oil, filters and safety checks, plus checks on the hybrid system, its cooling and the 12V battery. We use oil of the low viscosity Toyota specifies.
- Will an independent service affect my Toyota warranty?
- No. Under UK block exemption rules, an independent garage can service your car without affecting the manufacturer's warranty, as long as the work follows the schedule and uses parts and oils to the right spec. Toyota's own extended cover can have its own conditions, so check the terms of yours.
- Why is my Prius showing a hybrid battery warning?
- One common cause is a clogged hybrid battery cooling fan or intake. Dust, pet hair and fluff can block it, so the battery runs hot and the car limits electric driving. Cleaning the intake and fan often helps. We also read the battery readings to see if any cells are weak.
- My hybrid will not switch on but the lights work. What is wrong?
- Very often it is the small 12V battery, not the big hybrid battery. The 12V battery powers up the car's computers, and if it is weak the hybrid system will not start. We can test it and replace it if needed. Cars that stand for long periods are most likely to suffer.
- How often should I service my Toyota?
- Most Toyotas need a service every year or every 10,000 miles, whichever comes first, with bigger services at set mileages. Hybrids still need regular oil changes even though the engine stops and starts a lot. We will check the right schedule for your car.
- Do Toyota hybrid brakes wear out?
- They wear more slowly because the hybrid system does a lot of the slowing down. That means calipers and sliders can stick from lack of use, especially on low-mileage cars. We clean and lubricate them as needed during servicing. A yearly brake clean is a simple way to avoid an MOT failure.
- Do you work on the Hilux?
- Yes. We service and repair the Hilux pickup. Pickups with a design gross weight up to 3,000kg take a Class 4 MOT, which we do. Some Hilux models are heavier and need a Class 7 test, which we do not carry out, so check the plate or give us a call.
- Do you MOT Toyotas?
- Yes. We carry out Class 4 MOTs on cars and light vans up to 3,000kg. If your car fails, we explain why and give you a price for the repair before anything is done. You can book your Toyota MOT and service together, so the car is only off the road once, and we will point out anything that is close to needing attention.
- Do you offer discounts?
- Yes. Police, fire service, NHS workers and armed forces get a discount with us. Mention it when you call 01922 682200. If you are not sure whether your role counts, just ask when you ring and we will tell you straight away. It is our way of saying thank you to the people who look after us all.
