Why book with us
Renault Trafic Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
The Renault Trafic is a tough, practical van and a common sight on driveways and building sites around Pelsall and Walsall. We service every generation, from early dCi vans to the latest models, along with the smaller Kangoo. We diagnose warning lights and carry out clutch, brake, suspension, steering and engine repairs. If you rely on your Trafic to get to jobs, we understand that every day it is off the road costs you.
Trafics have some well-known weak points. Clutch and dual-mass flywheel wear is common, especially on vans that tow or carry heavy loads. EGR valves on the older dCi engines can stick and cause flat spots or limp mode. Later vans with particulate filters can clog if they only ever do short local trips. The Trafic shares much of its engineering with the Vauxhall Vivaro of the same years, so we know the parts well.
We work it out properly before we spend your money. We read the fault codes, test the system that is complaining and check the simple causes first. Then we call you with a clear quote and tell you honestly what is urgent and what can wait. Nothing is done without your agreement. Racking, ply-lining and roof bars can stay where they are for most jobs.
Our site on the High Street has had a garage on it since 1936. Mark has been in the motor trade for more than 30 years, since leaving school, and Suzi has worked as a service adviser and in customer support. Tradespeople and small firms from Walsall, Aldridge, Bloxwich and Great Wyrley use us because we are local, straight-talking and open on Saturday mornings.
Most Trafics are plated at or under 3,000kg design gross weight, which means we can MOT them as Class 4. If yours is plated above 3,000kg it needs a Class 7 test, which we do not do, but we can still look after the servicing and repairs. Call us on 01922 682200 to book. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 1:00.

Common questions
- How often should a Renault Trafic be serviced?
- The interval depends on the year and engine, and many Trafics show the next service on the dash. For a working van, a service at least once a year or at the set mileage, whichever comes first, keeps it reliable. Tell us your registration and mileage and we will check the right schedule for you.
- Can you MOT my Trafic?
- Yes, if it is plated at 3,000kg design gross weight or less, which covers most Trafics. That is a Class 4 test. If your van is plated over 3,000kg it needs a Class 7 test, which we cannot do. The weight is shown on the plate inside the van and on your V5C.
- What causes judder when my Trafic pulls away?
- A judder from a standstill, often with a rattle at idle that goes when you press the clutch, usually means the dual-mass flywheel or clutch is worn. It is very common on Trafics that carry weight or tow. We road test it, check it properly and quote before doing anything.
- Are Trafic parts the same as Vivaro parts?
- For the Trafics built up to 2019, many parts are shared with the Vauxhall Vivaro of the same years, including engines and gearboxes. That makes parts easy to source. We work on both vans regularly. Because the parts are shared, they are usually easy to get hold of, which helps keep repair costs and time off the road down.
- Will using an independent garage affect my warranty?
- No. Under UK block exemption rules you can have your Trafic serviced by an independent garage without affecting the warranty, provided the schedule is followed and parts and oils meet Renault's specification. We record the work so your service history stays complete.
- My Trafic has a DPF light on. Can I keep driving?
- You can usually drive gently for a short while, and a steady longer run sometimes clears it. If the light stays on, flashes or the van loses power, bring it in soon, as a fully blocked filter costs more to fix. We will read the codes and find out why it is not clearing.
- Do I need to empty the van?
- Fixed racking and ply-lining can stay. Please take out loose tools and stock where you can so we can work safely. If a job needs anything moved, we tell you when you book. A quick clear-out also makes it easier for us to spot leaks, rust or damage in the load area.
- Do you offer any discounts?
- Yes. We offer discounts to police, fire service, NHS workers and members of the armed forces. Business and fleet customers are welcome too, with invoices made out to your business. Just mention it when you call so we can note it on your booking, and have your ID to hand when you drop the van off.
- How do I book my Trafic in?
- Call us on 01922 682200 with your registration and what the van is doing. We are at 45 High Street, Pelsall, Walsall, WS3 4LT, open weekdays 8:30 to 5:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 1:00. If you are not sure what is wrong, describe what you hear, feel or see on the dash, and we will tell you how best to book it in.
