Why book with us
Fiat Ducato Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
The Fiat Ducato is a big, practical van, and around Pelsall and Walsall we see it as a panel van, a tipper, a Luton and, very often, as the base for a motorhome. We service Ducatos, diagnose warning lights, and repair clutches, gearboxes, brakes, suspension, steering and engine faults. For trade vans we know every day off the road is lost work, and for motorhomes we know you want it right before a trip.
Ducatos have some well-known faults. On the 2006 to 2014 vans the six-speed gearbox can develop bearing wear, showing up as a whine or rumble that changes with speed. Clutches work hard on a van this size, especially when loaded or towing. EGR valves can stick on older Multijet engines, and later vans with particulate filters and AdBlue can throw warnings if they sit for long spells or only do short runs.
We start by finding the real cause. We road test the van, read the fault codes and check the simple things first. Then we ring you with a clear quote and tell you honestly what needs doing now and what can wait. No work starts without your go-ahead. Racking, ply-lining and fitted furniture can stay in place for servicing and most repairs. On motorhomes we look after the base vehicle underneath.
A garage has stood on our High Street site since 1936. Mark has worked in the motor trade since leaving school, more than 30 years, and Suzi has a background as a service adviser and in customer support, so you get plain answers from people who know vans. Customers come to us from Walsall, Brownhills, Cannock and Aldridge because we are local and straightforward.
Most Ducatos are plated at 3,300kg to 3,500kg design gross weight, which makes the goods vans Class 7 for their MOT, and for vans we can only test Class 4, up to 3,000kg. We can still service and repair your Ducato, so its MOT goes as smoothly as possible elsewhere. Call us on 01922 682200 to book. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 5:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 1:00.

Common questions
- How often should I service my Ducato?
- Ducato intervals depend on the year and engine, and many show the service due on the dash. A trade van doing heavy work should be serviced at least once a year or at the set mileage, whichever comes first. Motorhomes that do low miles still benefit from a yearly oil change, as oil ages even when the van is parked.
- Can you MOT my Fiat Ducato?
- Usually not. Most Ducato vans are plated at 3,300kg or 3,500kg, which makes them Class 7, and for vans we only test Class 4, up to 3,000kg. Check the weight on the plate or your V5C, and call us if you are unsure. We can still service and repair your Ducato and get it ready for its MOT.
- Do you service motorhomes?
- We service and repair the Fiat Ducato base vehicle, including the engine, gearbox, brakes, suspension and steering. The habitation side, such as gas, water and appliances, is a job for a habitation engineer. Please check the height of your motorhome with us when you book so we know it will fit.
- My Ducato gearbox is whining. Is it serious?
- A whine or rumble that changes with road speed is a common sign of bearing wear in the Ducato gearbox, especially on 2006 to 2014 vans. It tends to get worse, and if left can cause bigger damage. Bring it in and we will road test it and tell you honestly what we find before anything is done.
- Will an independent service affect my Fiat warranty?
- No. Under UK block exemption rules you can use an independent garage for servicing without affecting the warranty, as long as the schedule is followed and parts and oils are to Fiat's specification. We record the work so your service history stays complete.
- Is a Ducato the same as a Peugeot Boxer?
- The Ducato is built alongside the Peugeot Boxer and Citroën Relay, and the three share the body and many parts. Engines differ, with Fiat using its own Multijet diesels. We work on all three. Because the parts are shared, they are usually easy to get hold of, which helps keep repair costs and time off the road down.
- Do I need to clear the van out?
- Fixed racking, ply-lining and motorhome furniture can stay in place. Please remove loose tools and stock where you can so we can work safely. If a job needs anything moved, we will tell you when you book. A quick clear-out also makes it easier for us to spot leaks, rust or damage in the load area.
- Do you offer discounts?
- Yes. We offer discounts to police, fire service, NHS workers and members of the armed forces. Business and fleet customers are welcome too. Just mention it when you call so we can note it on your booking. If you run vans for a business, we are happy to book several in around your work and make invoices out to your business.
- How do I book my Ducato in?
- Call us on 01922 682200 with your registration and what the van is doing. We are at 45 High Street, Pelsall, open weekdays 8:30 to 5:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 1:00. If you are not sure what is wrong, describe what you hear, feel or see on the dash, and we will tell you how best to book it in.
