Why book with us
KTM Motorcycle Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
We work on KTM road and adventure bikes, from the 125 and 390 Duke through to the 890 Adventure and the 1290 Super Duke R. KTMs are built to be ridden hard, and their servicing needs to keep up. We look after oil and filters, valve clearances, chains, brakes, coolant and suspension, and we track down warning lights and electrical faults.
The 125 and 390 Dukes and the RC 390 are popular with newer riders round Walsall and Pelsall. These high-revving singles are fun but they do not forgive missed oil changes or a dry, slack chain. We check the oil, chain and sprockets, brakes and tyres at every service and give young riders and their parents a straight answer on what the bike needs to stay safe.
The LC8c parallel twin in the 790 and 890 Duke and Adventure is a strong, modern engine, and the Adventure versions often see gravel as well as tarmac. We check the valve clearances at the mileage KTM sets, change the coolant and brake fluid on schedule, and look closely at the fork seals, wheel bearings, spokes and chain on bikes that go off road.
The 1290 Super Duke R and Super Adventure have a huge amount of torque, which is hard on rear tyres, chains and brakes. We keep on top of all of these and check the hydraulic clutch, coolant and cooling fans too. We follow KTM's schedule for your model and stamp your service book or give you a written record.
We are a family-run garage on Pelsall High Street, run by people who ride, and we host bike meets outside the workshop, so you will often find other riders here. Mark has been in the motor trade for over 30 years, and Suzi will talk you through the job and the price before anything starts. A garage has stood on this site since 1936. We see riders from Pelsall, Walsall, Great Wyrley and Bloxwich. Call us on 01922 682200 to book your KTM in or to talk through a problem.

Common KTM models
Known faults we fix on KTMs
The problems we see most on these models, and what you will notice first.
KTM 125 Duke / 390 Duke / RC 390
2011–present, 125cc and 373cc single
- Oil changes left too longThese revvy singles are often owned by newer riders and ridden hard, so missed oil changes and a dry chain are common.
- Chain, sprocket and brake wearA slack chain, worn sprockets and pads worn down quickly on bikes used for commuting.
KTM 790 / 890 Duke and Adventure
2018–present, 799cc and 889cc LC8c parallel twin
- Valve clearances due at serviceNo warning symptom, so the check needs doing at the mileage KTM sets for the engine.
- Chain, fork seal and bearing wear on AdventuresDrive slop, oily fork legs or notchy steering on bikes used on gravel and green lanes.
KTM 1290 Super Duke R / 1290 Super Adventure
2014–present, 1301cc LC8 V-twin
- Hard wear on consumablesBig torque eats rear tyres, chains and sprockets quickly, and brake fluid gets tired with hard use.
- Coolant and clutch checksRunning warm in traffic or a clutch that feels different, which we check along with the hydraulic clutch fluid.

Common questions
- How often should my KTM be serviced?
- KTM sets service intervals by mileage and by time, so an oil change is due at least once a year even if the bike has done few miles. Valve clearances, coolant, brake and clutch fluid and spark plugs come up at set points in the schedule. Bikes used off road often need some items doing sooner. We confirm the schedule for your model when you call.
- Can you service my 390 Duke?
- Yes. We service the 125 and 390 Duke, RC 390 and 390 Adventure. These singles are revved hard, so fresh oil on time matters. We also check the chain, sprockets, brakes, tyres and lights, and tell you honestly what needs doing now and what can wait.
- Do you work on KTM off-road and enduro bikes?
- Our work is mainly on road-registered KTMs such as the Duke, RC, SMC and Adventure models. If you have a road-legal enduro or supermoto, give us a call and tell us what it needs, and we will tell you honestly whether it is a job we should take on.
- My 890 Adventure has been on green lanes. What should I get checked?
- After off-road use we would look at the air filter, chain and sprockets, fork seals, wheel bearings, spokes, brake pads and the steering head bearings, and wash out any mud packed around the radiator. Most of it is quick to check, and catching wear early saves money later.
- Do you MOT motorcycles?
- Yes. We carry out Class 2 MOTs on motorbikes over 200cc, including your KTM. Call us on 01922 682200 to book a bike MOT, as these are not bookable online. We can service it at the same time and put right anything that would fail.
- Will a service with you affect my KTM warranty?
- Under UK block exemption rules, an independent service keeps the manufacturer warranty valid as long as the work follows the maker's schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We follow the service schedule for your model, use the correct grade of oil and stamp your book or give you a full written record. Recall and warranty repairs themselves still need to go through a dealer.
- Do you have the right setup to work on bikes?
- Yes. We have a motorbike lift in the workshop, so your KTM is held securely at a good working height rather than being worked on at floor level on a paddock stand. That makes jobs like wheel removal, fork work and chain changes safer and easier, and it lets us look properly underneath for leaks and wear.
- Will you give me a price before you start?
- Yes. We look the bike over, tell you what it needs now and what can wait, and give you a clear quote. Nothing gets done without your say-so. If we find something else once the work is under way, we stop and ring you before we go any further, so there are no surprises when you come to collect.
- Do you offer any discounts?
- Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and armed forces. Just mention it when you book and bring your ID when you drop the bike off. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00, closed on Sundays.
