Why book with us
Kawasaki Motorcycle Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
We work on Kawasaki motorbikes from the Ninja 400 and Z650 through to the Z900, Versys 1000 and ZX sports bikes. Most jobs are servicing, chain and sprocket kits, brake work and fork seals, along with fault finding when a warning light comes on. We explain what we have found in plain words and give you a price before any work starts.
The 649cc twin in the Ninja 650, Z650 and Versys 650 is one of the most common engines we see. It is a reliable unit, so most of our work on these bikes is keeping on top of the basics: oil and filter, valve clearance checks at the right mileage, coolant, brake fluid and chain care. Brake calipers on bikes ridden through the winter often need stripping, cleaning and freeing off.
The Z900 and Z900RS have a strong four-cylinder engine that pulls hard from low revs, which is great fun but hard on chains and sprockets. We measure chain wear properly, check the sprockets and the rear wheel cush drive, and look at fork seals and the steering head bearings, which take a lot of load on a bike that gets ridden with spirit.
ZX-6R and ZX-10R owners usually care most about brakes, suspension and tyres, and so do we. We check brake fluid condition, pad thickness and disc wear, look over the fork seals and shock for leaks, and check tyre age as well as tread. Your service book is stamped or you get a full written record, so the bike's history stays complete.
We are a family-run garage on Pelsall High Street, run by people who ride, and we host bike meets outside the workshop, so you will often find other riders here. Mark has been in the motor trade for over 30 years, and Suzi will talk you through the job and the price before anything starts. A garage has stood on this site since 1936. We see riders from Pelsall, Walsall, Rushall and Great Wyrley. Call us on 01922 682200 to book your Kawasaki in or to talk through a problem.
Twins and fours
We work on Kawasaki's 650 twins, the Z900 and the ZX sports bikes.
Brake calipers freed off
We strip, clean and free off sticky calipers rather than just fitting new pads.
Proper chain checks
We measure chain stretch and check sprockets and cush drive rubbers on every service.
Motorbike lift
Your Kawasaki is worked on at a proper height on our bike lift, not on the floor.
Run by riders
We ride ourselves and host bike meets outside the workshop on Pelsall High Street.

Common Kawasaki models
Known faults we fix on Kawasakis
The problems we see most on these models, and what you will notice first.
Kawasaki Z900 / Z900RS
2017–present, 948cc inline four
- Chain and sprocket wearSnatchy drive and a chain that keeps needing adjustment, as the strong low-down pull is hard on chains.
- Fork seal leaksOil on the fork legs and front brake pads, often on bikes ridden through the winter.
Kawasaki Ninja 650 / Z650 / Versys 650
2017–present (ER-6 based bikes from 2006), 649cc parallel twin
- Sticky brake calipersA brake that drags or feels wooden after a winter, caused by dirt and corrosion on the caliper pistons.
- Valve clearances dueNothing you will notice day to day, so the check needs doing at the mileage Kawasaki sets in the schedule.
Kawasaki ZX-6R / ZX-10R
Older and current models, 599cc to 998cc inline four
- Tired brake fluid and padsA spongy or long lever after hard use, as sports riding cooks brake fluid faster than commuting.
- Coolant and hose ageingRunning warmer than usual in traffic, or weeping hose joints on older bikes.

Common questions
- How often should I service my Kawasaki Z900?
- Kawasaki sets service intervals by mileage and by time, so even a bike that only comes out in summer should have its oil and filter changed every year. Valve clearances, coolant and brake fluid are due at set points in the schedule. We check your model and year when you call so you know what the service covers.
- Do you check valve clearances on Kawasakis?
- Yes. Valve clearances are checked at the mileage Kawasaki sets for your engine. It is a bigger job because the tank, airbox and cam cover have to come off, but it keeps the engine running cleanly. We tell you in advance when your bike is due, so it does not come as a surprise.
- My front brake feels wooden after the winter. Can you fix it?
- Usually, yes. Salt and dirt build up behind the caliper pistons and stop them moving freely, which makes the brake feel poor and wears pads unevenly. We strip and clean the calipers, check the pistons and seals, fit pads if needed and change the brake fluid, then test the brake properly before you collect.
- Do you work on older Kawasakis like the ER-6, Z750 and Z1000?
- Yes. We work on older Kawasaki road and sports bikes as well as the current range. With older bikes we look closely at the brakes, fork seals, wheel and steering head bearings, the charging system and coolant hoses, and we give you an honest list of what needs doing now and what can wait.
- Do you MOT motorcycles?
- Yes. We carry out Class 2 MOTs on motorbikes over 200cc, including your Kawasaki. Call us on 01922 682200 to book a bike MOT, as these are not bookable online. We can service it at the same time and put right anything that would fail.
- Will a service with you affect my Kawasaki warranty?
- Under UK block exemption rules, an independent service keeps the manufacturer warranty valid as long as the work follows the maker's schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We follow the service schedule for your model, use the correct grade of oil and stamp your book or give you a full written record. Recall and warranty repairs themselves still need to go through a dealer.
- Do you have the right setup to work on bikes?
- Yes. We have a motorbike lift in the workshop, so your Kawasaki is held securely at a good working height rather than being worked on at floor level on a paddock stand. That makes jobs like wheel removal, fork work and chain changes safer and easier, and it lets us look properly underneath for leaks and wear.
- Will you give me a price before you start?
- Yes. We look the bike over, tell you what it needs now and what can wait, and give you a clear quote. Nothing gets done without your say-so. If we find something else once the work is under way, we stop and ring you before we go any further, so there are no surprises when you come to collect.
- Do you offer any discounts?
- Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and armed forces. Just mention it when you book and bring your ID when you drop the bike off. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00, closed on Sundays.
