Why book with us
Harley-Davidson Servicing & Repairs Pelsall with clear advice.
We work on Harley-Davidson bikes from the Sportster 883 and Iron 883 through to Softails, Dynas and the big Touring models. Harleys are built to last a long time, but they have their own servicing needs, and they are often modified over the years. We look after the routine work, brakes, belts and electrical faults, and give you honest advice on what your bike needs.
Big-twin Harleys carry three separate oils: engine, primary and transmission. Each one needs changing at the right point in the schedule, and a quick service that only does the engine oil leaves the others to wear. On the Sportster, the primary and gearbox share one oil, separate from the engine. We change what is due, check for leaks and look at the drive belt for cracks and stone damage.
On Twin Cam engines from 1999 to 2017, the spring-loaded cam chain tensioner shoes are a well-known wear item. On a higher-mileage bike it is worth checking them before they cause trouble. We also check the primary chain and its adjustment, the clutch, wheel bearings, brakes and the charging system, which works hard on Touring bikes with audio and extra lights.
Plenty of Harleys have aftermarket exhausts, air filters, lights or bars fitted. We check that everything is safe and working, look for wiring that has been added in a hurry and keep your service history complete, which helps when it comes to selling the bike on. If you are not sure what has been done to a used Harley you have just bought, we can go over it and give you an honest list of what is due.
We are a family-run garage on Pelsall High Street, run by people who ride, and we host bike meets outside the workshop, so you will often find other riders here. Mark has been in the motor trade for over 30 years, and Suzi will talk you through the job and the price before anything starts. A garage has stood on this site since 1936. We see riders from Pelsall, Walsall, Brownhills and Cannock. Call us on 01922 682200 to book your Harley in or to talk through a problem.

Common questions
- How often should my Harley be serviced?
- Harley-Davidson sets intervals by mileage, with an annual service recommended for most riders even on low mileage. The engine oil is changed at every service, while the primary and transmission oils, brake fluid and other items come up at set points in the schedule. We check the schedule for your model when you call.
- What are the three oils on a Harley?
- Big-twin Harleys, such as the Softail, Dyna and Touring models, have separate engine oil, primary oil and transmission oil, each with its own job. They all need changing at the right time. Sportsters are different: the primary and gearbox share one oil, separate from the engine oil. We change whichever are due and tell you what has been done.
- Should I worry about the cam tensioners on my Twin Cam?
- On many Twin Cam engines the cam chain tensioner shoes wear over time, and if they break up the debris can do damage. It is not an emergency on every bike, but on a higher-mileage Twin Cam it is worth having them inspected. We can check yours and tell you honestly whether they need doing.
- Can you check my Harley's drive belt?
- Yes. We check the belt for cracks, missing teeth and stone damage, look at the pulleys and check the tension. A damaged belt can fail without much warning, so catching it early is well worth it, especially before a long ride.
- Do you MOT motorcycles?
- Yes. We carry out Class 2 MOTs on motorbikes over 200cc, including your Harley. Call us on 01922 682200 to book a bike MOT, as these are not bookable online. We can service it at the same time and put right anything that would fail.
- Will a service with you affect my Harley warranty?
- Under UK block exemption rules, an independent service keeps the manufacturer warranty valid as long as the work follows the maker's schedule and uses parts and oils to the right specification. We follow the service schedule for your model, use the correct grade of oil and stamp your book or give you a full written record. Recall and warranty repairs themselves still need to go through a dealer.
- Do you have the right setup to work on bikes?
- Yes. We have a motorbike lift in the workshop, so your Harley is held securely at a good working height rather than being worked on at floor level on a paddock stand. That makes jobs like wheel removal, fork work and chain changes safer and easier, and it lets us look properly underneath for leaks and wear.
- Will you give me a price before you start?
- Yes. We look the bike over, tell you what it needs now and what can wait, and give you a clear quote. Nothing gets done without your say-so. If we find something else once the work is under way, we stop and ring you before we go any further, so there are no surprises when you come to collect.
- Do you offer any discounts?
- Yes. We offer discounts for police, fire service, NHS workers and armed forces. Just mention it when you book and bring your ID when you drop the bike off. We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 17:00 and Saturday 8:30 to 13:00, closed on Sundays.
